Dalton graduated with an associate degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology in 2017. In May 2019, he received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering Technology from SUNY Polytechnic. At SUNY Poly, Dalton graduated cum laude (with honors), and received an award for academic excellence for receiving the highest GPA in the Mechanical Engineering Technology program.
What is it about the field of mechanical engineering technology that interests you?
I am a person who loves to learn how things work and or how they are made. This field offered me the opportunity to not only learn the core principles of engineering, but still allowed me to choose a career where I can be very hands on.
How did your experience at Hudson Valley shape your readiness to take on the Mechanical Engineering Technology curriculum at SUNY Poly?
I feel the professors in the Hudson Valley program provided real life examples combined with theoretical practices to provide a well-rounded ideology of the principles and real world uses of engineering.
What are your next steps?
I’m going to begin my search for a career. When the time is right, I will most definitely further my education (master or possibly even a doctorate). As of right now, I have an interview lined up with Atlas Copco in Voorheesville for a manufacturing engineer designer.
In June 2019, Dalton was offered a position in manufacturing engineering design at Atlas Copco. Atlas Copco, the world’s largest producer of commercial air compressors, is an international company with a regional research and design facility in Voorheesville.
