Those working in community and public health educate, motivate and empower their clients. Working under licensed health care professionals, they serve as a liaison between clients and the health care system, connecting community members with services and providing support for those navigating the health care landscape.

The Alliance for Better Health Care and Albany Medical Center's Better Health for Northeastern New York have outlined a need for trained community and public health workers.

Coursework in this program will help you acquire a broad base of knowledge that spans health care, community health, health insurance, human services, health literacy and chronic diseases.

This certificate program is primarily for students who have some background in a health care field and have completed coursework in a related area but the college also offers a Community and Public Health A.S. degree program for those with little or no background in the field. The degree and certificate programs are the only ones of their kind in New York State.

This program is offered by the Cardiorespiratory and Emergency Medicine Department.
