Environmental Health and Safety

Reporting to the vice president for administration and finance, the department of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) is responsible for the development and administration of all campus environmental health and safety programs. The goals of these programs are to:

  • protect all members of the campus community from potential health and safety hazards in the course of their daily activities;
  • protect our environment – the air, land and water around us – from potential sources of pollution; and
  • comply with all applicable state, federal and local regulations pertaining to occupational safety and health, fire safety and environmental protection.

The director of EHS assists faculty, staff and students in meeting these goals by reviewing workplace conditions, making recommendations for improvements, assist in developing written procedures, and providing training on how to implement EHS procedures.

In collaboration with other college departments, the Environmental Health and Safety Department develops written procedures and programs that faculty staff and students should follow that will keep them safe and maintain compliance with environmental health and safety regulations.
